We are seeking a qualified, engaged employee to work as part of a collaborative, high performing team to fill a permanent position as a Sourcing Leader or Senior Sourcing Leader within the Purchasing department. Position level will be dependent on the candidate’s overall skills and experience.

Sourcing Leaders and Senior Sourcing Leaders will have the opportunity to work in different Purchasing categories throughout their career depending on business need. The current business need is in the Project Sourcing category. Other purchasing categories include Onsite Contracting, MRO (Part Sourcing), Raw Materials Sourcing.

The successful candidate performing in the role of Sourcing Leader / Senior Sourcing Leader – Project Sourcing category, will take the lead role to manage the procurement process for assigned capital/maintenance projects, ensuring projects meet or exceed targets, budgets, and timelines. This self-motivated and collaborative individual will work with cross functional teams to lead the management of all processes supporting the procurement of equipment and services for assigned projects: procurement strategy definition, competitive bid process, detailed contract development, negotiation, analysis, contract change management, issue resolution and supplier management.

Sourcing Leader / Senior Sourcing Leader

(Permanent Position)

Overall Responsibility:

  • Sourcing Leader: Lead cross-functional teams, with the support of a Manager and technical resources, to achieve goals set for Category Strategy Projects and Category Management Teams. Set the direction and strategy for the accountable categories.
  • Senior Sourcing Leader: Independently lead cross-functional teams to achieve goals set for Category Strategy Projects and Category Management Teams where the outcome has a high business impact. Set the direction and strategy for the accountable categories.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead in the efforts to profile/analyze the current state and develop and document the strategy for the future. Lead in the preparation and delivery of business cases to support change.
  • Establish the necessary measurement and management tools, aligned with the Total Supply Cost Management Process, to ensure the total spend in each category assigned is being controlled.
  • Lead in the establishment and achievement of annual category plans, including identifying improvement opportunities and championing their implementation. Establish the annual category strategies and management teams and their respective annual goals for cost reduction, report progress on goals, and achieve the goals.
  • Act as the internal expert within the company on the category, showing proven experience in managing the procurement for capital / large maintenance projects, including complex contract development, negotiation, and creation/negotiation of Equipment and Installation/Construction contracts in order to manage risk and meet/exceed project budgets and timelines.
  • Sourcing Leader:
  • Lead, with the support of a Manager and technical resources the planning and conducting of negotiation activities for major contracts and is responsible for the performance of the established contract.
  • Assist in improvements in individual capability of Sourcing Analysts and team members through mentoring and coaching, and proactive involvement in their development.
  • Apply the strategic sourcing processes to the assigned categories.
  • Develop and maintain a network of relationships with stakeholder groups, and leverage those relationships to gain results.
  • Lead in the communications with all areas within the Purchasing Department and ensure all stakeholders are well informed on projects or initiatives.
  • Provide change leadership by demonstrating the ability to identify, implement and manage the change process for their accountable areas.
  • Senior Sourcing Leader:
  • Independently lead the planning and conducting of negotiation activities for major contracts and is responsible for the performance of the established contract.
  • Make improvements in individual capability of Sourcing Analysts and team members through mentoring and coaching, and proactive involvement in their development.
  • Apply the strategic sourcing processes to the assigned categories. Provide input into improving the processes and develop individuals’ capabilities on applying them.
  • Develop and maintain a network of relationships with stakeholder groups, acting as a key influencer and providing direction for Management.
  • Lead in the communication and hold self accountable to enhance relationships with all stakeholders in the Purchasing Department.
  • Identify, implement, plan, and manage the change process for complex multiple department change initiatives.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working / Advanced knowledge of the sourcing processes is required.
  • For the Project Sourcing category:
  • The successful candidate will have working / advanced knowledge in the relevant sourcing processes including supplier selection, competitive bid process, complex contract design, price and project change management, and supplier management.
  • Working / Advanced knowledge of Quality Improvement System, Purchasing Systems (Order Fulfillment, SAP, CMMS), applicable laws, standards and procedures with respect to assigned categories are required.
  • Working knowledge – Excel, Word, MS Project, SQL/Query, Powerpoint skills is required.
  • Working knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures Eg. P.O.s, Contract Documents are required.
  • Advanced expertise of contract development, Project Management, Negotiation, and Presentation and Delivery skills are required.
  • Working knowledge of time management and report writing skills are required.
  • Basic knowledge – Visio skills is required.
  • Working knowledge of performance assessment and development process is required.
  • Competencies: Decision Making and Analysis, Results Orientation, Teamwork / Relationship Building.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 4 year University degree in Engineering/Business.
  • Sourcing Leader:
  • Up to 4 years of job related experience is required.
  • Senior Sourcing Leader:
  • 7+ years of job-related experience is required.

Work Environment:

  • Office working environment with some requirements to meet in the plant/manufacturing facilities or with suppliers which will require the wearing of personal protective equipment.
  • This position is currently eligible for remote work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the future, this position may be eligible to work remote on an ad hoc or part time basis.

Hours of Work:

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads.
  • Flexibility to determine workday start and end times, to fit personal needs.
