Position Overview
The primary role responsibility is to develop and execute portfolio strategy for the Consumables Category (Preventive, Restorative, Endodontics) to meet organizational revenue and profitability goals while delivering optimal solutions to the dental professionals’ community.
He/she will be responsible for meeting portfolio specific budgeted sales, expense and margin expectations. Under the direction of the Marketing Leader and in close collaboration with the Consumables BDMs, the Sr. Marketing Manager – Consumables is responsible for the general management of the preventive, resto and endo product lines.
In addition, the Sr. Marketing Manager – Consumables is responsible for driving consumables brand penetration within the One DS Customer segment and driving adoption of web-ordering through the DT platform.
The incumbent is responsible for managing all aspects of his/her business from the perspective of developing and executing strategic plans throughout the product’s lifecycles, including: assessing new product/business opportunities, prioritizing product and market requirements, working closely with BDM, sales teams, intercompany contacts and operations to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy:
- Lead the development, communication and execution of annual marketing plans and work with BDM on developing annual business plans. Set priorities and collaborate with BDM, Sales, Quality, Finance, Purchasing and Marketing Services to achieve the category business goals.
- Design and implement pricing strategies that maximize profits and limit downside risk.
- Collaborate with Dental Groups to adopt the global strategy to the local market and plan out new product launch timelines. Set local strategy for new product launches that will generate growth and execute on new product launches and work with BDM on new product launch roll-out.
- Lead deployment of advertising and sales collateral material to support growth, with strong focus on digital.
- Develop and lead cross-functional projects and activities that maximize results for the consumables portfolio.
- In conjunction with BDM, work closely with customers and within the industry to understand market dynamics and continually refresh category SWOT. Build competitive analysis with field intelligence from BDM.
- Analyse portfolio trends, effectiveness of programs and promotions and any other marketing programs using existing data – CRM data and market intelligence. Develop appropriate plans based on expected results.
- Interfacing with all functional departments and using product trends analysis and industry knowledge, develop portfolio specific yearly business plan in collaboration with BDM and build annual marketing plan based on business objectives. Plan to be based on comprehensive external analysis (customer, competition, market, environment); internal analysis (profitability analysis, performance analysis, organizational capabilities and constraints, financial resources and constraints). The plan is to entail go-to market, social media, pricing, promotions, tactical programs and expense budgets.
- Provide monthly/quarterly feedback to DOM and sales organization.
Marketing and Sales Programs:
- Work closely with BDM and sales to implement field specific initiatives and programs to drive retail sales, profitably. Stay up to date in new developments in the field, analyze and report data patterns which affect the marketing of the products, making recommendations to the to enhance the product’s functionality and profitability. Maintain easily accessible competitive files from information gathered through field contacts.
- Develop programs in conjunction with BDM to drive brand penetration of consumable within selected target groups.
- Utilize DS International developed sales tools and collateral, design Canadian specific tools to support sales efforts, as needed.
- Work with BDM and sales advisory board to develop and introduce Canadian specific tools as needed.
- Effectively manage assigned expense budget to implement campaigns and promotions that maximize ROI
Brand Portfolio Management:
- New product launches: In collaboration with BDM, lead cross-functional teams to ensure NPL success from initial business plans, forecasts, regulatory, dealer set-ups etc.
- Develop and execute category specific communication, including sales and inter company contact communication. Participate in the preparation and writing of sales bulletins, promotional plans, and distribution plans with industry scope.
- Ensure Dentsply Sirona website is up-to-date respective to the portfolio; provide relevant content for weekly e-newsletter as well as content for social media.
- Develop and execute all portfolio related commercial activities
- In collaboration with BDM, develop accurate sales forecasts for product lines.
- In collaboration with BDM, develop and adjust sales promotions for assigned products as market conditions change in order to make sales and profit goals.
- Update pricebooks on annual basis.
- Monitor all pricing and recommend deviation from price list for approval from Marketing Lead
- Develop and execute category specific communication, including sales and inter company contact communication. Participate in the preparation and writing of sales bulletins, promotional plans, and distribution plans with industry scope.
KOL collaboration
- In collaboration with BDM and Clinical Affairs team to ensure Canadian KOLs are kept up to date on portfolio related products and topics (e.g. provide information on new product launches, clinical studies, etc). Collaborate with BDM on roll-out strategy to KOLs for new and relevant information.
Corporate Compliance:
- Complete annual GMP and all other corporate compliance programs and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Implement appropriate SOP as applicable to ensure Health Canada Compliance for portfolio specific products.
- Notify QA/RA of potential new products to determine Health Canada license requirements and along with QA/RA monitor process of license application filing with HC.
Education & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience preferably within the dental industry.
Years and Type of Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in a sales & marketing role, preferably within the dental industry.
- Prior marketing experience a must.
- Strong computer and presentation skills with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel and Wordb
