This position is responsible Aviva’s High Net Worth Insurance businesses from an underwriting and growth perspective. This position is key to supporting the business leaders within Speciality Personal Insurance (SPI) as well as working directly with the front-line underwriting staff encouraging a positive and dynamic work environment that values people and achieves outperforming results.
The position requires strong technical understanding of personal lines P&C industry. This role will be responsible to support High Net worth businesses in both the broker and direct channels. The position is accountable to product, underwriting and risk within a collaborative environment identifying trends, discrepancies, and opportunities. This role will also require strong negotiation and people skills when supporting, managing, and writing the largest High Net Worth accounts in SPI.
The expectation is to provide a channel agnostic and aligned underwriting experience while supporting key growth and governance priorities underpinned by a strong technical underwriting and control framework.
This role is technical and works in collaboration within the strategic vision of the department. The candidate is expected to drive the technical aspects of the business forward.
What you’ll do
Work directly as support for the management of the largest accounts in SPI
Work in partnership with underwriting front-line staff and front-line managers pertaining to underwriting and workflows
Supports the execution of key High Net Worth initiatives to support profitable business growth
Actively work on new business opportunities focused only on the largest High Net Worth accounts in Canada
Assist in the introduction and communication of rating and strategies, coverage and/or product changes in a timely manner
Help to improve efficiencies through simplifying business practices
Identify Underwriting trends with SPI Underwriting
Provide training and underwriting calibration with front-line staff to ensure an aligned underwriting experience for both the broker and direct channels
Continuously working to identify areas of concern using trending and industry developments
Foster relationships both internally & externally to obtain market intelligence and
Ensure underwriting controls are reviewed and adhered to as per applicable frameworks as documented in Icare
Identify discrepancies between distribution channels and work to ensure an aligned experience and workflow
Strong communication capabilities to ensure correct messaging of information flows both to the front-line staff and to High Net Worth underwriting management
Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external partners designed to support and drive outperforming results
Ensure the highest level of service is provided to the top VIP accounts in SPI
What you’ll bring
University degree and/or College Diploma specializing in Business. Advance degree and/or professional qualification preferred
Minimum 8 yrs. experience in the Property and Casualty business (emphasis on Lifestyle related products is an asset)
5 years Technical Underwriting experience including an understanding of the P&C regulatory environment
Prior experience with project initiatives in a supporting role
Strong relationship building skills
Track record of successful delivery of various high priority initiatives under tight timelines
Strong Strategic vision
Ability to collaborate with and influence key partners to achieve results
