Summary:

Scott Construction is a well-known and trusted General Contractor & Construction Manager with offices in Burnaby, Calgary and Toronto. Scott Construction has been providing construction management services and building relationships since 1984. Our diverse portfolio of projects finds us building amazing complex structures to smaller renovation projects for clients in the commercial, residential, institutional, industrial and special projects sectors.

As Site Superintendent, Special Projects you will collaborate and lead the team to execute and deliver quality projects on time and on budget. You will be responsible for providing overall supervision, coordination and scheduling of construction activities. The initial project for this role is a $1.5M tenant improvement for existing long-term health care facilities. Renovations will occur while residents are living within the facility and we are looking for a Superintendent who is skilled at building and maintaining positive relationships.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • On site supervision and coordination of trades.
  • With a collaborative style, coordinate and supervise all construction activities on site.
  • Ensure project is constructed according to drawings, specifications, project schedule and budget.
  • Partner with management team, including the Project Manager and subcontractors to maintain construction schedule and identify/resolve problems as necessary and in a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including community Develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budgets are in jeopardy.
  • Review and update schedule, cost forecast and cash flow with Project Manager.
  • Maintain appropriate field documentation including safety, progress reports, rental records, logs etc.
  • Provide leadership to peers ensuring all site staff are adhering to the company safety culture.
  • Organize weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Supervise, mentor, coach and train project personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Technical diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • At least 5+ years previous experience working on renovations within residential and commercial building with long-term health care experience considered an asset.
  • Excellent relationship building skills with strong focus on client relationship.
  • Supervisory and construction experience in commercial renovation projects up to $10M.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction such as; technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, drawings, specifications, procedures, scheduling and safety requirements.
  • Proven creative problem solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with Procore an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to successfully translate technical information to non-technical individuals.
  • Excellent relationship building skills and a track record of integrity when dealing with Clients, Trades and Consultants.
