SEM-Hatch is a joint venture between Hatch Ltd. and Sikumiut Environmental Management Ltd. providing engineering, construction and project management services in the province of Newfoundland & Labrador. SEM-Hatch is performing Engineering and Project Management Services for the Voisey’s Bay Mine Expansion project. Our client is now ready to initiate the construction phase of an underground mine. This mine expansion project is expected to produce about 40,000 tonnes of nickel per year and extend the life of the Voisey’s Bay operation until at least 2032.
We are interested in receiving resumes for Underground (UG) Construction Lead. This is a site project term position on a 2 week in 2 weeks out rotation, with 12 hour long shifts. The site is accessed via air from designated pick-up points in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construction of facilities to support two u/g mines and one open pit.
- Safe project execution and transition into mine operations.
- Large capital project management, construction planning and scheduling.
- Management of mining contractors for lateral and vertical development.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-secondary education including a Technology diploma and/or trade certification is preferred.
- 5+ years of construction supervision experience in large scale industrial projects; mining experience is preferred.
- Supervisory experience of u/g development and raise boring, mine ventilation, and mine services is desirable.
- Underground common core (mine development, construction and supervisory modules) from Ontario or recognized provincial program would be an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and execute projects in a rapid pace environment.
- Ability execute mine development and construction work packages.
- Clear communication and writing skills.
- Other related duties as required.
