Overview

Working as a team member, promote safety on site with all employees and visitors (contractors, haulers, and customers.) Provide excellent customer service by engaging employees and visitors in a professional and friendly manner. Operates weigh scales and front end systems accurately according to Lafarge policies. Act as key person in communicating with and receiving feedback from truck drivers on topics of safety, logistics and service. Assist in various administration tasks as directed by management team.

Responsibilities

SAFETY:

  • Promote a culture of safety with an objective of “zero” incidents.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to Lafarge Safety Policies, Lafarge Safety Principles, and the Lafarge Safe Trucker Program in all work environments with employees and site visitors.
  • Follow all safety requirements put forth by management and communicates any suggestions or concerns he/she identifies during day-to-day operations.
  • Engage in daily safety communication activities (ie: Huddles, Spot Truck Safety Audits, Daily Safety Messages, etc…) with management, employees and visitors.

HOUSEKEEPING:

  • Ensure that scale house and surrounding area is kept safe, presentable and functional.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

  • Provide assistance via phone or face-to-face contact with visitors. Directs visitors to appropriate personnel for further assistance.
  • Engage all inquiries in a professional and friendly manner.

DISPATCH:

  • Follow the dispatch daily checklist to identify, record, and communicate changes to the dispatchers aiming to minimize delivery disruptions to the customer.

FRONT-END:

  • Operate the Apex system according to standard operating procedures to check/tare in trucks and produce weigh-bills/tickets for the shipment of goods in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure that weight restrictions are abided by (ie: no overloads)
  • Collect documentation as per Front-End guideline for transport vehicles and transfers to the Transportation Coordinator.
  • Proactively communicate customer, transport and system issues with dispatch, sales and back-office to ensure timely resolution.
  • Collect monies for cash sales and reconciles against register as prescribed by control procedures.

ADMINISTRATION:

  • Q2C: Administer resale ticket entry into enterprise system in a timely and accurate fashion according to standard operating procedures to meet or exceed established KPIs for customer on-time and accurate invoicing.
  • P2P: Administer receipts of resale weigh-bills in enterprise system in a timely and accurate fashion according to standard operating procedures to meet or exceed established KPIs for supplier on-time payment.
  • File documents and weigh-bills/tickets for future quick reference.

REPORTING:

  • Produce daily, weekly and monthly reports as prescribed by Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.

Relationships with Others Jobs:

  • Reports to the Supply Chain Manager
  • Dotted line reporting to the Plant Manager
  • This position requires extensive liaison with plant personnel, Dispatch, After Sales Support, Customer Service & Logistics Manager, Inside Sales and Territory Managers.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Safety: Adheres to safety policies and work practices
  • Attendance: Showing up on time at the location(s) and time(s) scheduled by supervisor.
  • Various other EGTA site coverage as needed
  • Brechin, Stouffville, Mosport, Goodwood
  • Saturday’s as needed
  • Conduct: Treating customers, haulers and co-workers in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Policies & Procedures: Accurate and timely entry of data and information into LIFE and enterprise system as prescribed by Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Dispatch Communication: Accurate and timely communication of truck status with dispatch.
  • Driver Communication: Checking for compliance with Safe Trucker Program (STP). Delivery of key logistics messages. Receive and report feedback from drivers to appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Preferred 3 years experience
