Job description: Panorama Mountain Resort is looking to fill the position of Resort Cook. You have a passion for food and a strong interest in how it is made and how it tastes. The successful candidate has a desire to learn new skills and willingness to learn all about the culinary world. The Resort Cook must adhere to and enforce all appropriate workplace regulations, compliances, and legislation regarding health and safety, food preparation standards, and company policies and procedures. This position will be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of professionalism by following the company dress code and/or wearing the company uniform. This role will also maintain a professional appearance, demeanour, and attitude always. This position requires that you work well in a team environment and understand the need to maintaining a clean, organized workstation all while having some fun.

Essential Functions:

Monitor all food in preparation and storage daily, to avoid spoilage

Follow recipe manual guide strictly to achieve consistency in portion and taste

Prepare sufficient food quantities to meet business demands

Ensure that each item leaving the kitchen has been accurately billed or requisitioned

Explain the preparation of dishes/ specials to the service staff in a clear manner

Achieve high standards of taste and presentation in each dish

To treat each dish as if you were serving it to your family (take pride)

Ability to work some hot stations of the kitchens of the resort

To constantly push personal skills forward

Dedication to the highest quality with every plate leaving the kitchen at any time

Proficiently set the day’s station for service

Ensure adherence to provincial health and safety standards

Adhere to and enforce all appropriate workplace regulations, compliances, and legislation regarding health and safety, food preparation standards, and company policies and procedures

Be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of professionalism by following the company dress code and/or wearing the company uniform

Maintain a professional appearance, demeanour, and attitude at all times

Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately

Maintain familiarity with the composition of all menu items

Ensure all kitchen equipment and tools are being used safely and according to provided direction

Ensure food is handled, stored, and cooked according to health and safety standards, and that proper cleanup occurs to meet health regulations

Clean agreed designated areas in accordance with laid-down procedures, morning or evening routines, and hygiene requirements

Help to raise the standards within the restaurant and bring new concepts forth

Work Conditions:

Flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions

Occasional overtime

Experience / Qualifications:

Culinary experience in the Kitchen ideal

Experience in working some stations of a multiple outlet operation

Basic knowledge of the operation of Catering/Conventions

Great people skills, fun, energetic, out going

Able to stand for long periods of time

Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Strong communication skills
