About the role:

The Architect, Automation will play a critical and pivotal role in driving CTS (IT Infrastructure) team to innovate infrastructure, process, & application automation. We are seeking a senior practitioner who combines technical expertise with a keen understanding of how to address the critical business needs of enterprise customers using automation and continuous service improvement practices. This role is a high-impact, high-visibility role, considered to the pinnacle of Systems Engineering for the CTS Automation team. This role will report to the Design and Architecture pillar of CTS.
Your responsibilities include:
- Develops solutions to complex technical problems by challenging traditional technical assumptions through automation and service improvement initiatives.
- Identifies innovative uses of automation technologies to provide a competitive advantage for BSC.
- Drives strategic architecture changes throughout the organization.
- Defines, promotes, and supports the principles and standards of the enterprise architecture.
- Architecturally consults, executes, and supports multiple large, complex, cross-functional, or divisional service improvement/automation initiatives.
- Champions policy, processes, or technology that delivers significant advances.
- Demonstrates direct methods of influence at the corporate and global level through development of industry recognized publications.
- Recognizes architectural problem areas within automation and determines ways to effectively resolve them
- Work with CTS/IT Teams and account teams to scope automation projects, develop Levels of Effort, and act as a trusted advisor to external and internal teams.
- Monitor performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
- Investigate and incubate automation opportunities to increase speed and efficiency on existing service offerings and projects
What we’re looking for:
Required Qualifications
- 7-10+ years of relevant experience in IT Operations, DevOps or applicable technical experience with a proven track record of driving adoption of new technology.
- Experience in scripting, coding in PowerShell and Python.
- Knowledgeable IT finance fundamentals (ROI/TCO conversations).
- Be a self-starter who can flourish in a dynamic technology company.
- Must be a well-adept communicator and presenter with excellent writing skills and a penchant for organization, constant follow-up and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of technical discovery processes including ability to understand needs, overcome objections, assist in development of business cases within an idea management system.
- Expert experience in large and complex automation engagements
- Experience developing standards and best practices around development projects
- Expert experience with Python or other programming languages
- Broad experience in enterprise computing environments required
- Strong knowledge IP communication and routing is required
- Expert experience with M365 product portfolio
- You have experience working with Git in collaborative environments (Github, Gitlab, or BitBucket) and can apply CI/CD and automated testing concepts
- You understand the need for and can write clear documentation
- You have worked in development environment utilizing agile, DevOps and value-stream mapping Related degree in computer science or electrical engineering and/or seven to ten years equivalent engineering experience
