Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join us as Director IT, Business Partnerships – Merchandising, Supply Chain & Related Businesses. Reporting to the VP, IT Business Partnerships you will lead the Merchandising, Supply Chain & Related Businesses Business Partnership team, in managing the relationships and demand pipelines between your business partners and technology services.

This role can be based out of one our main offices including: Stellarton, NS; Montreal, QC; Mississauga, ON.

Job Description

As the Director IT, Business Partnerships with Sobeys you will:

Single Point of Contact

  • Provide effective customer communication, acting as a single point of contact, and providing a consistent experience in business engagement. Ensure the expectations on either side are aligned. Prioritization of activities to ensure alignment to both the business and technology strategies.

Business Relationship Management

  • Establish the partnership between the business and IT, ensuring that technology is enabling the business throughout the entire product lifecycle, from strategy to operations, continual improvement and ongoing support.

Demand Management

  • Work with the business to elicit, communicate and enrich business requirements for both new and existing services. Build and evaluate business cases and promote business sponsorships. Support the planning and prioritization of new projects and programs.

Key Capabilities & Owns

  • Align business and IT strategy early on, and iterate often
  • Leverage the ecosystem to understand emerging technologies and the marketplace
  • Be consistent, and firm about Enterprise Architecture guidelines
  • Align on select strategic vendors to build talent and delivery capability
  • Grow leaders’ ability to work strategically, not tactically
  • Be responsible for the partnership between the business and IT to enable the business and operational objectives.
  • Be responsible for strategic advice and collaborate with the business to create a business specific technology & capability roadmap.

Key Support Accountabilities

  • Work closely with cross-functional business units and technology teams to understand impacts of technology projects on business objectives and processes
  • Share accountability with delivery Directors in IT to deliver on roadmap

Job Requirements

What your experience and resume will demonstrate the following:

  • An undergraduate or master’s degree in Computer Science or Business
  • 10+ years experience in leading IT projects and processes
  • 3+ years of people leadership
  • Experience defining and understanding business processes using various tools and techniques
  • Wide-ranging experience in the planning and deployment of business and IT initiatives
  • Forward looking, research driven and strong business acumen along with the ability to influence change
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong communication, collaboration and negotiation skills
  • Experience with Merchandising and/or Supply Chain considered an asset
  • Bilingualism (English and French) considered an asset.
