Description:
This is an alternate provider role in which the successful candidate will obtain a limited medical license issued from the College of Physician and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).Working under the supervision of the Zone Clinical Department Head Family Medicine and the Section Chief for Low Risk Obstetrics and Newborn Care. As a Clinical Assistant you will assist with the services provided at Chinook Regional Hospital pre natal clinic. This clinic offers prenatal care at the Chinook Regional Hospital and post partum care until 6 weeks post delivery. Using evidence based Canadian practice guidelines you will assist with obtaining health history, physical exams including vitals, fundal height, weight, reviewing labs, fetal heart rate monitoring, and providing prenatal education. All aspects of care are done under the supervision of an independent licensed family physician or obstetrician.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant, OR will hold a valid work permit at the time of application. Applicants must be a graduate of a medical school located outside of Canada and the United States, listed in the Foundation of Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) International Medical Directory (IMED). As a requirement for licensure by the CPSA, applicants must have completed at least one full year (ie: May 1st to April 30th) of hands-on training after having obtained his/her medical degree. Preference will be given to applicants who have recent experience specifically, those who have low risk obstetrics experience. Applicants must have taken the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in Canada with minimum required scores of 7.0 in each of the components within 24 months prior to registration. Currency of Practice (per CPSA from Apply for Limited Practice – College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta | CPSA).
