Job description: GENERAL LABOURERS

Hours of work: Monday to Thursday from 6:30am to 3:30pm & Fridays from 6:30am to 12:30pm

Kings Wood Products is currently seeking General Labourers at varying skill levels to join our growing team.

The ideal General Labourer at Kings Wood Products is a motivated team-oriented individual, is eager to learn new skills, and has a desire to help us continue to provide excellent service to all of our valuable customers.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Depending on the type of work required, your interests, and qualifications, the duties assigned to you may vary from day-to-day and are subject to change based on the needs of the business.

The range of products that we provide to our clients allows us to hire candidates at varying skill levels. We operate in three (3) well-organized teams: * The Cutting Shop: This is where we’re responsible for cutting & shaping lumber to size, using a wide variety machinery.

• The Building Shop: This is where all of our skids are built, either by hand or with a pallet maker.
• The Custom Shop: This is where our experienced builders make anything from small simple crates, to boxes big enough to park a car in!

Some of the custom jobs we take on require onsite packing. In these instances, there may be an opportunity for you to participate in exciting new projects where occasional travel off-site travel may be required.

All applicants must be able to comfortably lift, move and carry up to 50lbs on a regular basis, when required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates machines in a safe manner by following safety rules and operational procedures.
• Assist with stacking and bundling of product for outbound shipments.
• Wear personal protective equipment as required.
• Comply with Health and Safety rules, policies and procedures of the company and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) particularly the “Duties of Workers” as stated in Section 28.
• Perform housekeeping activities as required.
• Perform compulsory overtime as necessary and in accordance with legislative requirements.
• Participate in training as required.
• Other duties as required

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

• All candidates must be able to comfortably lift, move and carry up to 50lbs on a regular basis throughout each day, as required.
• Takes initiative and is willing to learn new skills with a positive, can-do attitude.
• Ability to understand verbal & written instructions and follow directions as assigned.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong team player.
• Experience with nail guns, impact drivers and saws is considered an asset.
• Some experience in a similar role is considered an asset, although not required.
• On-site training will be provided to all successful candidates that are willing and eager to learn – even without prior experience!

THE COMPANY

Kings Wood Products was incorporated in 1970. We manufacture various types of wood products used mainly by the manufacturing industry. Some of our products include pallets, boxes, reels, export packaging, and custom wood packaging.

We have built our business with a reputation of outstanding service at a fair price. We operate our own trucks and trailers to ensure that our 100% on-time delivery goal is achieved. Typically, our customers are within a 75-mile radius of our manufacturing facility in Paris, Ontario, but we can service customers considerably further away.

We have been in our present location since 1982. The original building of 13,000 square feet has more than tripled to over 40,000 square feet at the present time. We have five loading docks for van loading as well as paved area for flat deck loading.

We are situated on eight acres of fenced yard for storage purposes, with two acres set aside for storage of finished product to ensure the quickest possible response for rush orders. Our factory is equipped with up-to-date machinery that is maintained by our own maintenance staff.

We are capable of producing a wide range of specialty parts in our custom shop and use our own jigs and fixtures to maintain a quality product.
