Job Summary
In this position, the RA will be supporting the day-to-day laboratory functions of the Ramsay Lab, focusing on, clinical and health services research of children with a neurological condition, housed within the School of Nursing at the UBC Koerner Pavilion site 2211 Wesbrook Mall.
Organizational Status
This position reports directly to the Principal Investigator of the study, and will collaborate with other co-investigators, co-researchers, and collaborators.
Work Performed
Typical Duties:
- Carries out simple tests and measurements;
- Assists with routine tasks in data collection, sampling, identification and preparation;
- Maintains research related records and databases, entering data according to established protocols.
- Performs basic literature research, such as, searching for articles on-line or the library.
- Provides general assistance with scheduling clinical research participants.
- Cleans and performs basic maintenance of equipment and apparatus.
- Performs simple preparation of materials according to test specifications.
- Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
The RA will help in collecting and ensuring accurate measurement of vital signs for clinical research; any errors may impact results of clinical measurements; all problems are referred to supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation and a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- B.A. or B.Sc or in neuroscience (preferred)
- Aware and capable of adhering to science laboratory safety requirements
- No prior working necessary, but experience in clinical setting a definite asset.
- Minimum of 1-year related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent time-management, and attention to detail are musts.
- Flexibility, eagerness to learn, ability to take direction, and to work as part of a team.
