The District of West Vancouver is currently seeking customer service oriented and well organized administrative professionals to join our casual administrative/ customer service pool. This position provides temporary administrative support in areas of increased volume and leave coverage, as well as special projects to various departments within the District of West Vancouver. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to gain valuable experience in a variety of capacity in the community while developing new skills and knowledge for professional growth. The preferred candidates will have a flexible availability to commit and the ability to quickly adapt to variable work placements.
Responsibilities vary significantly based on assignment, and may include: front-line customer service (internal and external contacts); data entry; creating and editing documents and correspondence; preparing and maintaining records, reports, files, forms, accounts documents; scheduling and maintaining Outlook calendars; and operating office equipment and computer hardware and software programs.
The successful candidates will have:
- A minimum of two years of customer services or administrative experience;
- Proficient computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint);
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent customer service and keen attention to detail;
- Exemplary time management and organizational skills; and
- Ability to keyboard at a minimum of 50 WPM.
- Some experience in processing/filing payroll records, paralegal, notary or conveyancing, and executive assistant experience would be considered an asset.
Hours work will vary, but generally between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Please include your current availability in your cover letter.
The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable police information check and a copy of their credentials. All District of West Vancouver employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of hire.
