PURPOSE OF POSITION
As part of the Destination Management Division, the Industry Partnerships branch plays a strategic role in driving and influencing stakeholder engagement in Destination BC’s programs and services. The key responsibilities for this position include coordinating the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains (VCM) contracts and programs.
Under the direction of the Manager, Vancouver, Coast & Mountains, the Coordinator, Vancouver, Coast & Mountains position coordinates the delivery of Destination BC programs and services within the VCM tourism region to ensure optimal program delivery and partner engagement. Success in this role requires strong organization, attention to detail, relationship building, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as collaboration with Destination BC’s departments, government, external partner organizations, contractors, tourism organizations and businesses.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES / DELIVERABLES
- Assists in the coordination of the delivery of Destination BC programs (i.e. Destination Development, Iconics, Industry Development etc.) within the VCM tourism region to ensure optimal program delivery and partner engagement.
- Liaises and builds relationships with VCM stakeholders, providing day-to-day advice and guidance to communities and tourism businesses, etc. to help them engage in Destination BC programs and activities.
- Maintains VCM stakeholders contact details in the Salesforce database and ensures program engagement lists are current.
- Liaises with other Destination BC program areas (i.e. Global Marketing, Destination Development, Industry Development, Research, Visitor Services and Corporate Communications) and shares relevant VCM program information to facilitate increased collaboration and alignment.
- As required, may attend and represent Destination BC at community planning meetings with key stakeholders including Mayors/Councillors, community officials, government partners, Destination Marketing organization representatives and tourism businesses.
- Prepares, monitors and tracks contracts ensuring compliance with deliverables and terms and conditions.
- Monitors budgets, prepares month and quarter-end variance reports, processes invoices and monthly purchase card reconciliations, and applies appropriate coding and backup coverage.
- Assists the Manager, Vancouver, Coast & Mountains, with quarterly financial reporting & annual business planning processes.
- Coordinate and organizes delivery of workshops, webinars, seminars and conferences in various communities throughout the VCM region.
- Coordinates the delivery of the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains Industry Forum and Community Forum.
- Supports the coordination of the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains Industry Newsletter.
- Represents Destination BC at conferences, seminars and workshops if required.
- Other related duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma in marketing or business and a minimum 3 years’ experience in a tourism related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in stakeholder relationship development and maintenance;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in logistics/planning/organization;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience developing contracts and contractor relationship management;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience managing and reporting on budgets, and financial tracking;
- Demonstrated experience in preparing written reports; and
- Demonstrated experience in desktop applications including spreadsheets, database maintenance, presentation software, and word-processing. (MS Office preferred)
