Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an Archaeology Technician to be based out of multiple Ontario offices (Markham, ON; Barrie, ON; London, ON).
This position is expected to begin in September 2022.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Performs routine fieldwork as a trainee (such as environmental sampling, assisting with calculations, and operations, maintenance and inspection of equipment of client site), working under close supervision.
- Performs routine tasks in support of project staff and handles less complex duties.
Note: LIUNA has been certified by the Labour Relations Board to bargain on behalf of persons in the above noted position. Minimum Requirements
- Highschool or equivalent educational level.
- 4+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Must be able to work out of town within Ontario for extended periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
- Must be able to perform strenuous archaeological fieldwork (lift up to 40lbs & be capable of repetitive movement).
- Excavate in a consistent & controlled manner with ability to recognize & collect cultural material.
- Support Field Supervisor with technical aspects of archaeology & leading the team.
- Demonstrate knowledge of MHSTCI Standards & Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists.
- Ability to work & collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Willing to continually learn & take direction.
- Communicate information, issues, concerns related to the site work in an effective & professional manner to Field Supervisor.
- Attend work prepared for all weather conditions, ensuring appropriate weather gear is readily available.
- Must be willing to work out of town, across Ontario for extended periods of time.
- Leading by example, taking ownership for responsibilities.
- Provide leadership support to Field Supervisor.
- Carry out Stage 2-4 archaeological field work under the direction of experienced archaeologists
- Expected to prioritize Health & Safety & follow all AECOM procedures including strict Covid-19 measures.
- Sensitivity & awareness combined with a respectful attitude towards Indigenous culture & people is a must.
- Valid driver’s license is preferred.
- Reliable transportation to & from assigned office or designated project meet spot essential.
