The IT Infrastructure Architect is to be responsible for providing advices and collaborating with the IT management team, business leads, infrastructure and application analysts and the stakeholders of different IT groups in defining and developing new infrastructure solution architectures. Will be responsible for the delivery of fully integrated technical solutions that meet project objectives, delivery timelines, and architectural direction, assuming the overall responsibility for all technical aspects of a project’s execution, from detailed design through hand-off to operations. The IT Infrastructure Architect will participate to the development and evolution of the infrastructure technology roadmap and infrastructure technology strategy to optimize the use of existing infrastructure services.

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Develop infrastructure and Cloud solution architecture and make sure all components are fully integrated;
  • Translate business requirements into Infrastructure or Cloud technology architecture and ensure non-functional requirements including availability, resilience, security and compliancy are considered;
  • Be responsible to develop and align the Infrastructure and Cloud technology solution architecture to the security architecture and compliancy framework;
  • Perform an advisory role to the management team of IT Corporate Shared Services and Security on emerging trends and infrastructure and Cloud solutions;
  • Ensure technical coordination/management of the project implementation as per defined architecture and design;
  • Participate to a Solution Architecture Board that formalizes the review and acceptance of project architectures and designs and ensure adherence to policies and standards;
  • Participate to the development and maintenance of the infrastructure and Cloud technology roadmap by collaborating with the IT Corporate Shared Services & Security, IT applications and business unit IT management teams and the Subject Matter Experts;
  • Work jointly with stakeholders of different IT groups on processes, policies and standards changes;
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts to evaluate high-level costs and efforts for new IT opportunity assessments or technology and Cloud infrastructure solutions;
  • Produce solution design documentation.

Key Skills:

  • Good knowledge of infrastructure technologies related to Cloud Computing, Virtualization, ERP, Database, Storage, Backup, Networking, System Administration (Windows and Linux/Unix), Load-Balancing, Web Services, End Point technologies and other core services such as ActiveDirectory and M365;
  • Experience with architecture and design documentation;
  • Strategic thinking;
  • Proven change management skills;
  • Proven skills of organizational, planning and ability to perform multiple tasks under pressure;
  • Ability to impact and influence decision-making;
  • Ability to work effectively with people in a high volume/stress technical support environment;
  • Strong customer focus, high level of leadership and team player
  • Bilingual, French and English, both oral and written.

Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • College or University degree with a major in IT or equivalent work experience;
  • 6 to 10 years of related work experience;
  • Infrastructure back-end, network and virtualization, Cloud technologies and end point technologies skills;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • Ability to impact and influence decision-making;
  • Ability to communicate and network with a variety of individuals as well as to structure information in a creative and flexible manner. French and English – Oral and written;
  • Ability to translate concepts and directives into specific detailed designs and plans.
  • Interacts in a collaborative manner with different individuals, different teams and at different levels of the organization, from IT or from the business.
  • Show leadership and influence in providing guidance to project teams and operational resources on IT solutions as well as to IT management teams in terms of strategies, roadmaps and technology trends;
  • Stay aware of technology trends in order to recommend the right solutions for Domtar;
  • Deal with complex situations, projects and initiatives on a day-to-day basis, looking at the big picture and making sure that all components are considered and that integrated solutions are delivered.
