Job description:

RPG Programmer – Full Time Employee

We are seeking to hire an RPG (Report Program Generator) remote job, to work in the modernization of existing applications with one of the market leader providers of IBM i(AS/400).

The individual will participate in large RPG modernization project and will implement and adapt current application for integration and/or new features.

Details:

• Location: 100% Remote

• Schedule: Monday – Friday but hours can be flexible (

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Represents ou client in a positive manner in all aspects of the position to include courtesy and respect for others on the team and conveying an ethical approach to business situations. Also promotes our client to customers, other team members, and the marketplaces in general.

· Ability to take business processing issues and automate them through technology.

· Understands functionality (through conducting user interviews) and can identify and write specifications to change or enhance program or system.

· Ability to determine potential business impacts of proposed changes and enhancements to other aspects of the business.

· Estimate programming effort involved based on program specifications; adjust same as conditions change.

· Development of test plan, create and coordinate user testing and ensure that tests meet user requirements.

· Establish documentation requirements and promote strict adherence.

· Identify, analyze, and confirm problems and their causes and then provide solutions.

· Write complex batch and inquiry/maintenance programs using RPGIV, RPGLE, DDS and CL Programming.

· Effectively produces and communicates status reports (in verbal and written form) to project manager; ability to tailor technical communications to audience and successfully documents module, application, system-level and/or business level objectives.

· Performs job responsibilities exhibiting ownership of duties and independence.

· Developing skills in identifying opportunities, soliciting business and in writing small proposals.

Technical Proficiencies

(languages, tools, systems, etc.)

· Sound knowledge of platform utilities.

· Knowledge of the OS/400 operating system and familiarization with basic data communication terminology and communication functions, including client access.

· Strong RPG programming coding techniques and database techniques.
