DUTIES

The Faculty of Arts at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a full-time tenure track position in Human Rights and Social Justice. This is teaching intensive (teaching/service) interdisciplinary position located in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. This position is dependent on budgetary approval. The appointment is scheduled to commence on Aug. 1, 2021.
The candidate should be able to teach introductory and senior undergraduate courses in sociology as well as courses at the Masters level within the prospective MA in Human Rights and Social Justice located in the Faculty of Arts. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service in human rights and/or social justice. Specialization is desired in two or three of the following areas: war crimes and genocide; poverty, marginalization and vulnerability; gender-based violence; health inequities and security; migration/asylum seeking; colonization and Indigenous peoples; sex and human trafficking; human rights laws and institutions; global social movements and NGOs; and environmental crisis and protection.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in sociology or a closely related discipline. Doctorates from relevant interdisciplinary programs will be considered.
