About the Position:

Lambton College of Applied Arts & Technology invites applications from qualified and passionate individuals interested in teaching part-time in the Construction Boilermaker Apprenticeship Program for the School of Trades & Technology, pending sufficient enrolment.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Provide instruction to students and apprentices;
  • Create a positive teaching and learning environment;
  • Prepare and/or update lesson plans and provide instruction using a variety of teaching techniques and current technologies that enhance student success;
  • Deliver courses in accordance with curriculum standards;
  • Prepare, administer, and grade assignments, tests and examinations in a timely manner;
  • Monitor student performance, maintain progress reports and encourage student success;
  • Communicate with students in a timely manner;
  • Follow the Academic Calendar and other policies and procedures for both Lambton College and OntarioLearn.

Qualifications:

Qualified applicants must possess a Certification of Qualification as a Boilermaker 428A and at least eight years industry related experience as a Journeyperson Boilermaker as well as the desire to contribute to the education of the next generation of apprentices in the Construction Boilermaker Apprenticeship Program. Teaching experience and mentoring are also preferred (apprenticeship training). When applying for this position, please include a copy of your Certificate of Qualification.

Candidates must be excellent communicators with the ability to provide service to a diverse student population. They must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff and be a co-operative team player who operates under a student-centered philosophy. They must be able to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners, and have some experience in instructional technology. Computer skills are required with experience using Microsoft applications.
