About this opportunity
As Clinical Education Lead, you will be accountable for supporting OT preceptors in offering meaningful and fulsome learning opportunities to placement students as part of their OT fieldwork. You will work closely with the Talent Acquisition team, as well as the Universities, field staff, supervisors/management, and administrative staff to foster a positive placement experience for both students and preceptors.
Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day
Provide CRS training and orientation for OT students (one to one, small group, and/or through use of recorded modules and other resources)
Coordinate and deliver onboarding and orientation requirements, as well as provide training materials to multiple student groups throughout the year
Ensure students have the appropriate WSIB trauma and/or Auto resources required for their placement (e.g. recordings for training)
Monitor school placement dates and offers, coordinate with Talen Acquisition team, and respond to student/school requests
Provide knowledge transfer, shadowing, and reverse shadowing on all components of service delivery from the intake process to discharge and follow up
Provide timely feedback to the students on clinical skills and behaviours according to best practice and professional college guidelines where applicable
Review and provide timely feedback on documentation and written communication
Support the students’ preceptor(s) in executing the training plan and support in identifying ongoing training needs
Support the student with transition to a preceptor once training is complete, identifying and communicating to the preceptors areas which require particular attention
Contribute to creation of content for clinical training
Coordinate workshops, lunch and learns, and other learning opportunities
Coordinate/liaise with preceptors and the administrative team, in onboarding students to CBI Health and their placement (both administratively and clinically), and in monitoring learning needs of students and adjusting supports as appropriate
Monitor student placement offers in collaboration with Talent Acquisition team, and respond to school requests
Coordinate student projects, as appropriate
What you need to be successful
Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
A valid driver’s licence and reliable access to a vehicle
At least 2 years of private clinic/rehab experience
A results-oriented, adaptable and well-organized approach with the ability to function independently
Sound written and verbal communication and multi-tasking skills
A willingness to further your skills through additional training
Comfort with providing care to clients in their home and /or in the community
Excellent leadership skills to be able to coordinate a treatment team, always keeping in mind client, family, and funder expectations
Excellent communication skills required to be able to facilitate meetings, treatment plans and advocate for the client’s needs
A demonstrated understanding of service delivery model(s) relevant to their area of training
An ability to meet performance expectations within their own clinical practice
An understanding of performance indicators within service delivery as related to the success of the client and CBI Health
