There is currently one permanent position in Saanichton. An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in Victoria and Saanichton.
This position has on-site requirements however we offer flexible work arrangements, including the opportunity to volunteer to telework part-time (with conditions) as set out in applicable employer policies.

Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. EMBC’s mission is to be responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction. EMBC works directly with local governments, First Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions and industry in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
The Administrative Assistant provides first point of contact and a variety of office administrative, secretarial and financial support services for the organization and coordinates the day-to-day priorities of the EMBC Leadership Executive Director(s), including providing liaison with ministry executive offices.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent education/training.
- A minimum of 6 months experience working in an office or professional environment. Preference may be given for more than 6 months experience.
- Experience typing, formatting, and proofreading documents and using desktop tools such as Word, Excel and the Internet.
- Experience responding to routine verbal and written inquiries from the public.
- Experience using MS Outlook to manage Executive calendars and schedule meetings.
Preference may be given for:
- Experience supporting financial transactions, such as petty cash/ credit card transactions.
- Experience interacting with general public on routine matters.
- Experience scheduling meetings and travel arrangements.
Candidates must be able and willing to:
- Work on-call and extended hours during emergency activations.
