Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Construction Health & Safety Officer to join the Arcadis Construction Services team in Port Hope, Ontario. The Construction H&S Officer will coordinate and implement all aspects of Arcadis Health and Safety program as it applies to various site activities in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, COR, and Arcadis H&S policy and procedures. The applicant may be required to report to the Arcadis office in Port Hope if required by the project team, but the expectation will be the candidate will work on site completing supervision during project execution phases or remote when there are no site activities.
The Health & Safety Officer will be responsible for understanding and following Arcadis Health and Safety Program, Policies and Procedures. The H&S Officer ensures health and safety is considered in the performance of all activities.
Role accountabilities:
- Participation in daily H&S Meetings.
- Ensure Health and Safety compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- In charge of the compilation, updating and distribution of health and safety related documentation as required on site.
- Manage the daily health and safety activities related to administration and field work.
- Assist in developing and delivering required training programs as may be required.
- Conduct Health and Safety orientation of new employees; update and train existing employees as required.
- Complete regular site inspections and audits.
- Immediately report all workplace injuries.
- Participate in injury investigation, reporting and follow-up.
- Participate in incident investigations in a timely manner.
- Ensure project start-up activities are completed.
- Maintaining and updating third party compliance monitoring databases
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline preferred or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- 5 years relevant experience in Health & Safety
- A minimum of 5 years in Canada to be able to complete the Federal Background check.
- An understanding of Federal and provincial regulations and other regulatory authorities.
- Valid Driver License
Preferred Qualifications:
- NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) Certification
- Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor Certification
- First Aid Trained
- Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification Training preferred.
- Ability to use Site Docs Safety Management Software is an Asset
- Experience on mining, and oil and gas sites are an asset.
- Experience and Knowledge in demolitions, abatement and remediation would be an asset.
- First Aid Certified
- Valid Construction Certifications: WAH, Confined Space, Asbestos Awareness, AWP License, Traffic Control, Propane Certificate, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
