Job description: Gannett Fleming Canada is looking for an experienced construction management professional for the role of Construction Lead to join our project team in Toronto, ON.
The Construction Lead will assist in the management of transportation construction projects for our Clients in the GTHA.
Gannett Fleming’s Construction Services Business Line is looking for an experienced Construction Lead for our SubwaysProgram that is adept in all phases of construction. Backed by the full in-house capabilities of a multidisciplinary architectural and engineering firm, you’ll be responsible for providing expert guidance on the execution of construction projects, supporting a large transit capital improvement program in the Greater Toronto area. We are looking for a strong Construction Lead – Subways with previous experience providing oversight of the construction engineering process at site level along with previous experience overseeing and managing a team of Field Inspectors The successful candidate will have experience with complex projects in Transit or P3 related projects.
Responsibilities:
- Interface routinely with the client, joint-venture partners, and other key stakeholders for coordinated project delivery
- Lead a team of construction support personnel in the oversight of consultant construction management and general contractor activities.
- Assist in the overall construction contract management with an emphasis on proactive identification of schedule or budget concerns.
- Provide oversight and reporting to any and all field activities pertaining to the construction site
- Provide technical advice with respect to any proposed changes to the project scope and/or design on Construction schedule to the Commercial/Schedule and Risk Team
- Accountable for work scheduling review
- Oversee and direct the preparation and maintenance and review of the Risk Register for Construction related items
- Oversee and direct the preparation and update and review the Work Schedule Review Report
- Act as primary issues to resolve any issues for overall construction matters to our Clients
- Provide oversight to support the Client and any other stakeholders related to the construction of the project
- Advise and act as a representative of the Owner throughout the construction phase on any construction related matters
- Provide oversight to coordinate Construction services
Qualifications:
- Minimum University Bachelor’s Degree; in Engineering.
- Must have at least 15+ years of proven work experience as a Construction Engineering lead with experience overseeing a team of Field Inspectors and GC.
- Previous experience working on large and complex engineering projects in the construction phase (transit, subway or related P3 level experience)
- Previous experience leading field teams on complex projects
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple deadlines and work under pressure is expected.
- Previous experience with Primavera or similar project scheduling software is an asset.
- Proficiency MS Excel and other Microsoft applications such as Word, Powerpoint, Outlook.
- Proficiency Acrobat or Bluebeam for document mark-ups and comments.
- Proficiency with FTP, Project Wise, SharePoint, ISO, MS Office. PM+ experience is an asset
- Strong communication and presentation skills – both written and verbal.
