Job description: What Does a Construction Supervisor Do?

Under the direction of the General Superintendent, the Construction Supervisor is responsible for managing a construction crew and monitoring performance while ensuring that safety standards are adhered to on site.

As a Construction Supervisor, You Will:

• Provide leadership to the crew
• Ensure all products meet specifications
• Manage client relationships in a professional and productive manner
• Remain flexible with work assignments and resources such as equipment and materials
• Conduct ‘tail gate’ safety talks with staff to review policies and practices
• Ensure safety practices are followed by the crew
• Administrative duties, including tracking quantities for production and payment
• Review documents, ensuring accuracy and completion
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring:

• Experience in road construction, fine grading, setting grade or other related activities is an asset
• Lead hand/supervisory experience
• Mechanical knowledge, experience performing repairs is an asset
• Effective leadership skills, ability to engage and manage the construction crew
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Basic computer knowledge, an asset
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as required
