This position is subject to reduced hours and lay off as per collective agreement.
This position is guaranteed no lees but not limited to a minimum of 27.5 hours per week.
Job Summary
Receives, prepares, cooks and serves customers’ orders for a wide variety of short order food items, using a grill, deep fryer and related equipment. Operates other food production equipment as required. Organizes and prepares required ingredients prior to serving times and ensures serving areas are stocked with hot and cold beverages and food items. Inspects food during and after preparation to ensure proper quantity, quality and seasoning. Maintains proper food handling, equipment handling, sanitation and safety standards. Requisitions supplies from internal sources to meet daily requirements. Cleans and maintains assigned work area and associated equipment, including counters, grill, refrigerators and coffee maker. May train others in short order cooking, food preparation and handling. Performs related work as required.
Job Requirements
Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English. Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately. Knowledge of practices, methods and procedures of short order food preparation, cooking, decoration and service; personal hygiene, food handling, sanitation and safety precautions; and care and use of kitchen utensils, knives and equipment. Ability to establish efficient work methods and work in an organized manner under pressure. Ability to estimate quantities required for advance preparation and requisitioning purposes. Experience in short order cooking in institutions or large restaurants. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others. Good physical health; must be prepared to take a medical examination
