DUTIES
The Coordinator, Faculty of Education and Social Work (EDSW) Graduate Programs, Student Services, is responsible for leading a student service delivery model for the Faculty’s Graduate Programs and for providing leadership in advising current and potential students.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Day-to-day operations of the Faculty of Education and Social Work graduate programs student services.
- Supervision and training of support staff for EDSW Graduate Programs such as Program Advisor(s) and Program Assistant(s) including hiring, training, work scheduling, performance management, evaluation, and labour relations. Identify additional staffing needs to meet peak demands.
- Academic guidance for current and prospective students across the range of EDSW graduate programs including students with special interests/needs such as transfer credit, and distance/open education; assist in resolving student issues.
- Coordinate and manage relations with International Graduate Admissions and Graduate Admissions to ensure the successful and timely admission of graduate students.
- Organize and lead recruitment activities, such as presenting information sessions and attending recruitment fairs.
- Monitor and audit and submit student records in preparation for graduation, including degree audits.
- Develop a culture of student-centered work and customer service, including through communications and online, orientation, Graduate Programs in Education Success Centre.
- Build capacity and infrastructure within EDSW to offer Graduate Programs.
- Oversee committee duties including coordinating and attending meetings – track submissions and prepare reports including academic planning reports and financial reports for presentation to the Graduate Committees and maintain a database.
- Communicate effectively with TRU and EDSW stakeholders regarding EDSW Graduate Programs.
- Oversee EDSW program events for students and faculty.
- Coordinate processes around Thesis and Project in EDSW graduate programs.
- Manage special projects and agreements related to EDSW graduate programs.
- Support the operations of the Graduate Student Success Centre, including hiring of Teaching Assistants, events, supplies/resources

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. M.Ed, MBA, M.A.) from an accredited University
- Two years’ full-time experience as an advisor in a post-secondary environment dealing extensively with international students from various cultural backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement new programs and procedures related to student services
- Proficient in the creation and use of spreadsheets, templates and website related information
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff
- Ability to work as a solution-oriented member of the EDSW team
- Ability to travel domestically as required
- Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with students, staff and members of the general public
