As an intermediate Mineral Land Data Analyst, you will be responsible for helping the Mineral Land and Contracts Team review, identify, and correct errors and variations in our CS Land database; ensuring a high degree of consistency with our current set of processes and procedures. Working closely with the team and the division managers, you will help to standardize our land data following numerous historical acquisitions and mergers, as well as land database conversions.

Responsibilities

A candidate for this role is responsible for:

  • Provides mineral land support to the Mineral Land and Contracts team
  • Assist in entering land expiry comments in concurrence with the expiry process
  • Crown Land Sales – co-ordinate posting lands with Negotiator and completing sales when required
  • Prepares and submits caveats, withdrawals, discharges, and transfers of caveats to land titles office and advises partner and freehold owners
  • Verifies documentation prepared by Broker for newly acquired Freehold leases
  • Responsible for trespass and understanding how to handle/prevent trespass in the context of data cleanups
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Alberta and British Columbia Crown regulations, as well as Freehold and Fee title administration
  • Working knowledge of how to link wells and apply well allocations across multiple agreements in CS
  • Assist with acquisitions and dispositions as required
  • Maintains mineral lease records in CS land system ensuring documents are correctly filed and pertinent information is in files
  • Responds to internal and external queries and assists or directs to resolve
  • Prepares Fee Title Lease outs, issues offset notices, initiate title review, lease out decisions and prepare Fee Title Leases
  • BC Crown ePayments, Assignments, and title searches
  • Communicates with Freeholders, Partners, Government Agencies
  • Identify, maintain and follow-up with obligation reports within CS
  • Process NOA’s with Contract Analyst as required
  • Uses ETS/ISC to obtain searches, complete transfers, offset applications and continuations
  • Uses SPIN/IRIS to obtain Land title information
  • Understand Lessor estates and ownership changes, requests sets-up and changes to vendors
  • Verify, code and approve land invoices
  • Prepare cheque requests when required
  • CAPLA Member (Canadian Association of Petroleum Land Administration)

Deliverables

The Mineral Land Data Analyst will be accountable for data cleanup related activities in our CS Land database, adhering to the processes and practices set out in our data consistency manuals. Following the analysis from internal and external reviews of our current data set, we will provide the candidate reports highlighting areas of concern and the impacted files. Working closely with the land leadership team, we will help to prioritize cleanups according to materiality and need.

Qualifications Required

Five (5) to fifteen (15) years of oil and gas land administration experience. Recent (within the last 12 months) experience managing day to day mineral lease work for an area. Graduate from a recognized Land program is preferred or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
