Overview

Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Director Construction – West to manage all design and construction activities. You will be responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan and store development.

Job Description

What you’ll get to do in this fast-paced role:

• Create a coaching and development culture for all employees
• Manage direct reports, including: selection, orientation, training and development, performance management, succession planning and compensation
• Manage capital expenditures
• Direct all design and construction activities
• Provide project budgeting and scope of work
• Manage and direct geo tech and environmental requirements
• Complete contract and negotiation administration
• Implementation of the strategic plan and store development
• Direct equipment procurement
• Maintain cost control system
• As required by Real Estate, visit new sites, assess and report back to Real Estate any issues that could potentially impact project development costs
• Provide final review and sign off on all project progress draws
• Actively participate in project planning with Real Estate and Operations
• Manage external relationships with general contractors, consultants and suppliers
• Control capital expenditures for building maintenance
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per company requirements
• Other duties as required

Job Requirements

What your resume will include and demonstrate to us:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent with 10+ years relevant experience
• Knowledge of design, engineering and construction practices
• Knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC
• Project management and leadership skills
• Proficient in MS Office products
• Ability to lead a geographically diverse team and projects
• Financial and budgeting knowledge
