The role we are offering you:

The Organization Service Operations & Service Operations team of CAE Civil Flight Services is looking for a motivated individual to join us as Director, IT Operations Engineering to help us deliver world class operation of mission critical solutions to our airline customers. Are you ready to:

Build and lead a team of experts responsible for:

Deployment architecture, ensuring that our systems and applications were strategically designed and implemented to maximize efficiency and scalability.

Managing the operations architecture focused on optimizing the infrastructure and processes to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of our systems and services.

The resiliency and reliability engineering efforts that include designing and implementing strategies to enhance the robustness and dependability of our systems to ensure uninterrupted service availability.

Responsible for cloud optimization and cloud capacity planning and engineering, involving the meticulous management of our cloud resources to maximize efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and scalability while also engineering solutions to meet our evolving capacity needs in the cloud environment.

Leading the performance and load test engineering efforts that includes designing, executing, and analyzing performance tests to ensure our systems met optimal performance standards, effectively handling high loads and providing a seamless user experience.

Develop and execute strategic plans for operational excellence, aligning them with business objectives and ensuring the reliability and performance of critical systems.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, platform engineering, and infrastructure, to identify and prioritize areas for improvement in system reliability, scalability, and performance.

Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the responsibilities of the organization.

Stay up to date with related emerging technologies and industry trends and drive their adoption to enhance system performance and efficiency.

Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team and across the organization.

Drive the business continuity plans for applications under your responsibility. Define, implement, and rehearse appropriate disaster recovery plans and strategies.

Manage relationships with technology vendors, negotiating contracts, and evaluating vendor performance to ensure adherence to service level agreements and contractual obligations.

Collaborate with the security and compliance teams to develop and enforce policies, procedures, and best practices, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

Our ideal candidate has:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

More than 12 years of relevant experience in the field.

Extensive experience in SRE or related roles, with a focus on managing large-scale systems and infrastructure.

Five or more years of leadership responsibilities, including strategy, budgeting, and staffing.

Experience in leading managers with teams spread between several time zones.

Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate a vision that inspires and motivates employees.

Ability to build consensus, make decisions based on many variables, and gain support for major initiatives.

Maximizing effectiveness of nearshore / offshore resource models

Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning, and execution skills

Strong oral communication and written presentation communication skills.

In-depth knowledge of SRE methodologies, principles, and best practices.

Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

Solid understanding of containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar.
