HOURS OF WORK:

8-hour shifts – Monday to Friday
Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice-President of Medical Affairs and with functional links to the Vice-President of University Mission, Performance and Quality and the Network Chief of Staff, the incumbent is responsible for providing the leadership required to plan, establish, coordinate and monitor all medical service quality improvement activities and continuing medical education activities within Vitalité Health Network. The incumbent is responsible for directing a team working to support physicians in delivering the best possible care within the Network’s facilities, based on the best practices and medical practice standards in effect and clinical performance indicators. This sector is also responsible for improving communication with physicians and for promoting a safety culture, including infection prevention and control. The incumbent works closely with the Network Chief of Staff; zone chiefs of staff; medical directors; department, division and service heads; and all the Network’s physicians by facilitating liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including patient partners.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Medical training or graduate degree in a relevant field;
  • Training in management of care quality and patient safety or willingness to complete such training within two years of starting position;
  • Ten years of varied experience in the health care field, including at least five years in a management or coordination position;
  • Relevant experience developing and implementing quality improvement tools within the medical sector an asset;
  • Very good understanding of medical practice, how it is administered, and its legal framework;
  • Knowledge and understanding of learning activities and self-regulation needs within the medical staff;
  • Good knowledge of quality and performance management tools as well as of the evaluation processes used to improve medical practice;
  • Very good leadership and ability to motivate others to achieve a common objective;
  • Ability to adapt to change and act as a change agent;
  • Skills building teams, coordinating initiatives and writing and presenting educational material;
  • Good organizational and analytical skills, good judgement, tact and discretion;
  • Good oral and written communication skills and good competence in both official languages;
  • Proven ability to conceptualize and communicate information;
  • Ability to find solutions to complex health system problems;
  • Ability to write complex documents and reports;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network’s management philosophy, and organizational values;
  • Compliance with Vitalité Health Network’s confidentiality rules.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
