Job title: Director of Growth Marketing (Higher Education)
Job description: Altus Assessments is looking for our next Director of Marketing to lead a team of multi-functional marketers responsible for engaging our community, growing and educating our audience, generating and nurturing pipelines, and supporting our sales and customer success teams in bringing in deals and serving new vertical markets.
The Opportunity
As a valued leader on our Revenue team, you’ll own, develop, and deliver the marketing plan for our fiscal year and bring your blue sky thinking to inform a marketing strategy that serves Altus’s future growth and goals.
Your marketing programs and initiatives will drive revenue growth with our existing customers in healthcare education, introduce us to new verticals such as Business and Teacher’s Education and build credibility that position us as the leader in our category.
In this role, keenly focused on growth marketing, you get to lead, mentor and coach teams of inbound, content, community and brand marketers. You’ll choose and establish the performance metrics for the team and build a system from the ground up that creates visibility into campaign success, measures ROI, and enables data-informed decisions.
Leveraging your modern and data-driven marketing expertise, ability to understand different marketing personas, and creative thinking, you’ll show us how to attract and grow with customers in higher education. And as we evolve our brand and transform into a product-led company, you’ll help evolve the marketing function to unlock more growth as products become a lead source.
When working at Altus, you help tackle problems in higher education like inequity in the application process and bias in admissions to advance diversity and inclusion. Your work enables schools to make the most of data across their programs and systems to support learners’ journeys better. You will also contribute to our mission of creating a world filled with more socially and emotionally intelligent doctors, teachers, nurses, business leaders and other professionals.
The Director of Marketing role is a full-time remote-first position and reports to our VP of Revenue, . We welcome applications from across Canada.
To thrive in the role, you:
- Are highly data-driven, using metrics, KPIs and qualitative and quantitative methods for tracking, reporting, measuring marketing success, and making marketing-related decisions.
- Come with people management experience and have grown and led a multi-functional marketing team.
- Have brought successful campaigns (i.e. lead generation, demand generation, or ABM) from ideation to launch.
- Have grown your strategic acumen as a key contributor in a startup or scaleup with little brand recognition, helping build and operationalize from the ground up.
- Can lead and operate in ambiguity, take action without having each and every detail and confidently take risks in supportive environments.
To thrive at Altus, you are:
- Caring toward people. You show up, take time to listen and understand, encourage and support, and don’t shy away from providing feedback and mentoring and teaching others to help them grow.
- Curious by nature and open to possibilities. You like to explore, ask questions, experiment, and learn.
- Driven to problem-solve and biased towards action.
- Adaptable and outcome-oriented with a preference for fluid and changing work environments where you get to build, make a visible impact, and positively influence change and progress.
- Someone with strong yet loosely held opinions.
- Purpose-driven and feel connected to our mission: to create a world served by exceptional professionals.
The selection and interview process:
We designed our process to deliver an equitable and memorable experience. It is a two-way discovery, and we encourage you to ask us lots of questions along the way.
Here are the general steps you can expect:

Before the interview, we may ask you to complete a take-home assignment that mirrors some aspects of the role and present your work to the team. (2.5 – 3 hour video call)
- Wait For a Final Decision. The Hiring Manager consolidates and evaluates feedback from the people you met to make a decision. (2-4 days)
- Receive an Offer / Reference Check. If it’s determined you are a good match for the role, team and Altus, we invite you to an offer conversation. The offer is contingent on completed references. (30-minute video call)
