Why is this role important?
Collaborating with the rest of the development and operations team, the incumbent will work directly with Instructional Designers, Developers, Subject Matter Experts, and Operations Team members to create, maintain, and deliver web-based learning products, in English and French, within an established framework using various instructional technologies and development tools, including HTML, the Learning Management System (People Fluent), the suite of Adobe products and in particular, Articulate Storyline.
What you’ll do
- Works collaboratively with the Education Development Team, Developers, Subject Matter Experts, and Operations Team to develop and deliver timely and quality eLearning products and deliverables that support operational plans.
- Supports the Quality Assurance process to ensure eLearning products meet the required standards.
- Supports the Operations team in creating course shells, product descriptions, and supports other operational needs (as required) associated with delivering learning products
- Produces engaging multimedia assets that integrate animation, video, audio, and/or text.
- Develops scenario-based simulations and demonstrations using Articulate Storyline and similar tools.
- Remains current with and learns about new instructional technologies and tools and plays an important role in introducing new and innovative ideas to CIHI’s education development and delivery strategy.
- Provides input on development processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness are being maintained.
- Designs visually appealing and interactive eLearning content, which meets usability criteria, good design principles and is appropriate for CIHI’s pan-Canadian audience.
- Provides technical support to clients and peers when required in terms of the functionality of the multimedia products and eLearning deliverables produced, and monitors feedback received to ensure quality is maintained and enhancement requests are noted for future consideration.
What you’ll bring to the table
- Two or more years of proven experience in the design and development of eLearning and multimedia are required.
- Undergraduate Degree/Diploma in a relevant field (e.g. Graphic Design; Web Development; Illustration; Multimedia Production; Instructional Design) or the equivalent.
- Superior skills in using Adobe’s creative suite of products (CS5), including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash are required.
- Recent work experience with a recognized eLearning authoring tool (e.g., Adobe Captivate; Articulate Storyline; Camtasia Studio; Lectora Inspire). Recent work experience with Articulate Storyline is strongly preferred.
- Able to create and edit professional quality audio and video recordings as part of the development of engaging education products.
- Ability to create and produce infographics.
- Recent experience working with SCORM or TIN CAN within a LMS/LCMS environment is a definite asset.
- Additional programming experience with HTML and awareness of other scripting languages such as JavaScript is an asset.
- Able to coordinate several projects and prioritize tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent time management and problem solving skills.
- Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
- Ability to meet occasional travel requirements
