The Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue uses dialogue and engagement to facilitate transformative conversations and create real-world impact for society’s most pressing challenges.

The Mitigating Wildfire Initiative facilitates dialogue and collaboration to identify and advance solutions that address the fundamental changes happening in wildfire risk and management in BC.

About the Role

The Coordinator, Dialogue and Engagement is responsible for supporting community engagement efforts and promoting dialogue around wildfire mitigation strategies within the Centre for Dialogue’s Mitigating Wildfire program. The Coordinator will work closely with community members, rights-holders, stakeholders, and government to facilitate productive conversations and build relationships that support effective wildfire management practices and shift towards a co-existence with fire. The role will further support the Mitigating Wildfire program by coordinating logistics, pursuing funding opportunities, and supporting the design and implementation of associated dialogues.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related discipline with three years of experience in consulting, public policy, community engagement, fundraising, project management, communications, or similar fields — or an alternative, but equivalent combination of education, training, professional certifications and experience.

  • Mapping stakeholder groups, supporting participant accessibility, and representing the interests of the Centre for Dialogue in stakeholder and rights-holder interactions.
  • Engaging with community members, rights holders, stakeholders, and partners to build relationships & identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Participating in the provision of culturally appropriate spaces for engagement between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples, including knowledge of social and historical contexts.
  • Participating in the delivery of equitable participation for groups traditionally under-served or facing barriers to participation and assisting with implementing participatory engagement processes.
  • Researching and identifying funding opportunities.
