What responsibilities will you have in this role?
- Reinforces course content to students and externs by providing guidance and feedback of the development of the dining service within the Enterprise Centre (EC).
- Facilitates learning activities related to a realistic restaurant setting to prepare the students for the hospitality industry.
- Reviews Externship ground rules and expected conduct at the beginning of each Externship placement.
- Models proper hospitality etiquette by wearing appropriate fine dining business attire at all times and ensuring students are following CHCA uniform standards.
- Plans, organizes, and ensures professional service for all guests that enter the EC.
- Oversees operations in main floor and/or private dining room, including special events and executes details of the BEO for catering and special events booked in the EC.
- Assists in the development of marketing to increase revenue through special events within the EC.
- Coordinates/selects servers in the EC for any special events outside of regular operating hours.
- Responsible for ensuring correct daily remittance is submitted to Finance Department.
- Performs inventory assessments and makes purchasing recommendations to the manager as needed.
- Conducts research and development to enhance the EC experience (competitive analysis, new trends).
- Demonstrates correct use of equipment, and trains part-time staff on the POS.
- Acts as a technical resource for equipment and facilities (i.e. beverage machines, POS, espresso machine, coffee brewer, etc.).
- Other related duties as assigned.
What qualifications do you need for this role?
- Two year diploma or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Culinary Management or Food and Beverage Management or Hotel Management.
- Advanced Food Service Certificate, Food Safety Sanitation/Food Handlers Certification (or equivalent credential recognized by Toronto Public Health), Smart Serve, First Aid/C.P.R., WHMIS Certified is required.
- Minimum five years of managerial experience in a food and beverage outlet that is rated four (4) or five (5) star.
- Experience teaching in a post-secondary environment is an asset.
- Well-developed coaching, mentoring and motivational skills. Must maintain currency in the field.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and make decisions within the scope of the position’s expertise.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in upscale catering events with a high level of customer interface.
- Demonstrated passions for cooking and related professional development portfolio.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task; excellent time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to produce a healthy menu to multicultural and dietary needs.
- Familiarity with current Health & Safety and regulatory codes and practices.
- Physical requirements: ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk, lift and carry up to 20 kg, (i.e. Chinaware, food products, kitchen equipment).
- Demonstrated commitment in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our College.

- Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience and styles.
- Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.
Hours of work: Rotational schedule alternating every two weeks lunch/dinner services (8:00 am – 4:00 pm and 2:30 pm – 10:30 pm)
Work assigned shifts and special events may require overtime; will involve evening and weekend work.
Interview process may consist of a practical skill & knowledge cooking demonstration.
