The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) is actively seeking an Executive Director, Patient Experience, Partnerships and Innovation (ED) to lead inter-professional practice, mental health promotion and patient experience at BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS).
An innovative change agent, you will provide strategic leadership in nursing and allied health professional practice, learning and development, client and family experience, mental health promotion, health literacy, research operations, evaluation and knowledge exchange. You will identify and build clinical and core competencies across programs to strengthen expertise and enable a healthy, engaged, culturally competent, safe and trauma informed workforce. A transformational and results-oriented leader, you will have exceptional organizational, problem-solving and communication skills combined with strategic and operational leadership experience.
Reporting to the Vice President, BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services, the Executive Director will oversee a range of programs and services aimed at strengthening the workforce, the patient experience and the system of care for people with complex needs.
What you will do
- Lead and advance inter-disciplinary, evidence-based, trauma informed care.
- Oversee compliance to provincial and national legislation and standards for nursing and health science professionals and promote safe, competent and ethical practice.
- Develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based clinical education and knowledge exchange programs.
- Facilitate and support the client and family experience and create an environment of continuous learning, evaluation and research.
- Develop and lead priority projects that are designed to improve mental health and substance use literacy, promotion and prevention and address stigma in the complex populations.
- Build and maintain patient safety and quality improvement throughout.
- Manage program budgets, quality and performance.
- Oversee workforce planning, staff engagement and learning.
- Work closely with academic partners to strengthen teaching, research, learning, practice and program development.
- Develop and nurture strategic alliances and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders across the continuum, driving towards continued integration, program excellence, and system innovation.
- Partner with PHSA Human Resources to assist with health workforce projection, analysis and planning, staff engagement, leadership development and psychological health and safety.
- Partner with PHSA Indigenous Health, First Nations Health Authority and Indigenous communities across BC to advance indigenous wellness, cultural safety and respect across BCMHSUS programs.
What you bring
- Level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of related experience in progressively senior leadership roles, including experience within a large, multi-site organization. Experience in the areas of mental health, addictions or primary care is considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated ability to lead with a broad perspective and guide best practice service models to inspire people and foster collaboration, engagement and manage change.
- Responsiveness to the needs of stakeholders supported by an acute awareness of the impact of actions of self and others.
- Effective fiscal and financial management skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to negotiate and mediate resolutions to complex situations.
- Experience leveraging virtual health platforms.
