Job Type: 6-month contract with potential for extension

We are looking to hire a Finance/Financial Analyst to support a large retail client located in East York.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance, the Finance/Financial Analyst – Retail will be responsible for providing finance/accounting related support to the company’s retail store owners related to ongoing FP&A project and initiatives.

The successful candidate will need to get familiar with all training materials provided to the stores to be able to support the stores with any questions. Build a FAQ that can be sent each period to stores to help with the new process.

Specific duties include:

– Oversee the execution of selected FP&A projects, which includes data compilation, performance analysis, monitoring, reporting and progress communications
– Prepare a periodic forecast, along with any variance analysis at period end close and present results to management
– Provide recurring accounting support, inclusive of posting journal entries and performing balance sheet account reconciliations
– Monitor project inquiries from franchise owners and Store Administrators and respond in a timely manner
– Provide training to store teams to drive consistent project execution, this includes maintaining general training documents, reference materials, and providing virtual training sessions
– Develop an FAQ document to address typical questions from the stores
– Execute other ad hoc projects or duties as assigned
– Daily monitoring of the SDM mail box and provide support in a timely manner
– Bring together large data files for project analysis
– Follow communication protocol, when responding to store administrator
– Provide standard analytics and variance analysis, inclusive of commentary as needed

Requirements:

– Post-secondary education in accounting/finance
– 3+ years of experience in finance/financial analysis and working knowledge of accounting principles and policies
– Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite products
– Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and ability to work with large datasets, while leveraging spreadsheets and macros
– Experience with performing forecasts and variance analysis
– Experience supporting multiple retail stores, branches, or business units preferred
– Strong communicator, both oral and written
– Project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
– Customer service-oriented individual
– Strong ability to work with various stakeholders and cross-functional teams
