Hiring Blitz ! Earn a one time payment of $500 (minus applicable deductions) upon completion of your first 500 hours worked. (eligibility conditions apply)

Location: An independent production facility located at Peace River Correctional Centre, Peace River AB

Status: Full-time

Schedule: 12 hour rotational shifts, 3 days on 3 days off (must be able work weekends) or 8 hour rotational shifts, 5 days on 2 days off (must be able to work weekends)

Pay: $17.00/hr plus bonus (eligibility conditions apply)

Requirements: First Aid, Food Safety Certificate is required after 3 months

Complete a variety of duties in the preparation and distribution of meals to service units as per the requirements of that Correctional Center along with sanitation and cleaning tasks.

Understand and abide by the basic Code of Conduct specifically formulated for the protection of Compass Associates. Its sole intent is to illustrate sensitive areas and establish acceptable actions. In general the code is as follows but may be somewhat different depending upon the level of security, etc. for that particular institution.

Job Duties

Participates in the preparation and assembly of meals by performing duties such as:

  • Wash, peel, and cut of fruit and vegetable as prep schedule
  • Cook or pan potatoes as per prep schedule
  • Count, weigh and measure ingredients for assigned food production area
  • Keep record of cook products in the food bank. Use FIFO method in moving out the food to tray assembly area
  • Prepare and serves beverages and toast
  • Prepare vegetable and desserts as per prep schedule
  • Assemble sandwiches and salads
  • Portion meal trays and special diet trays as per meal schedule
  • Load, deliver, collect and unload meal service carts to the pods
  • Strip down carts and trolleys and wash dishes/pots
  • Maintain storage areas in a clean and orderly manner
  • Work efficiently and handle all equipment and products safely

Performs any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management in a suitable timeframe.

Job Summary

Prepares, presents and serves meals, ensuring the quality of the food and overall presentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables.
  • Carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards.
  • Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
  • Perform general cleaning duties; remove trash and garbage to designated areas.
  • Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment.
  • Utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control. Notify cooks if food temperatures are not within acceptable limits.
  • Assure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.

  • Previous food service experience in healthcare, hotel, restaurant or fast food is considered an asset.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
