About the Opportunity

South Shore Regional Hospital (SSRH), in Bridgewater, is seeking one full-time general surgeon to be part of a team of four general surgeons. The role requires a full spectrum of general surgical services appropriate to a secondary care center, but we will give special consideration to someone interested in breast disease. We offer regular OR, endoscopy, and minor procedure time. The group is willing to provide surgical assists and can help mentor a newer graduate. Call is 1:4. Physicians have an opportunity to work as a preceptor with medical students and residents as well. Compensation is currently Fee for Service, with an estimated income range of $350,000 to $450,000 annually. In addition, specialists receive call stipends and other incentives as available through the Master Agreement of Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities

• full scope of practice as a surgeon providing care to the patients within the Western Zone
• participating in call and able to respond to urgent matters within 20 minutes of being called
• provide support to your own site but also to others in the Western Zone if required, which will include day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
• responsible to the Zone Department Head for Surgery for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority
• permanent full-time, 1.0 FTE

• Eligible for Licensure with the
