Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach
Role Profile
Humber College’s High Performance Center (HPC), in the last 11 years, has been rapidly growing its Strength and Conditioning Program. The varsity program is represented by 5 men’s teams, 5 women’s teams, and 4 coed teams, which the HPC has supported through the education and implementation of holistic performance.
The HPC is currently seeking to hire a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, who has the willngness to learn and grow. The successful candidate will report to the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervision of the HPC during open gym hours, and ensuring safe and appropriate usage of equipment.
- Able to understand, explain, and demonstrate the training programs to the athletes.
- Assists the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in designing student-athlete programming based on test results and overall development.
- Assisting student-athletes with any questions, providing education on proper movement patterns through demonstration and instruction.
- Administer team testing and data collection, under direction of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
- Adhere to a respectful and professional relationship with staff and student-athletes.
- Assist with the training, educating, development and the evaluation of student interns, and volunteers.
- Attending any coach or staff meetings required.
Typical weekly schedule: 4days wk/ 6hrs day
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology /Health Sciences.
- NSCA-CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist).
- Standard First Aid and CPR.
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of professional experience.
Skills
- Ability to be flexible to the changing demands of their environment.
- Strong ability to lead and motivate large groups of athletes.
- Proven successful coaching and leadership experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to train, mentor, build trust and develop a positive team environment.
- An understanding of the unique college environment and expectations in regards to the education of the whole student-athlete.
- Enthusiasm, determination and passion for excellence.
- Proficiency in computer software applications (Google & Microsoft programs).
- Detail oriented.
