The Home Support Aide function as members of multidisciplinary care teams providing healthcare services for clients / residents / families in their home environments. Duties include: assisting clients with activities of daily living, personal care, and health care procedures as delegated by a health care professional. Located approximately 300 km east of Edmonton and Calgary, this village of approximately 720 residents is located in east-central Alberta, just 60 km away from the Saskatchewan border. It is primarily a farming and ranching community, with a very active oil and gas industry as well. Consort is a vibrant, rural community, with friendly people and a lower cost of living than major centres. It’s a great place to raise a family, with amenities available that include a local Kindergarten to Grade 12 School, Adult Learning Centre, and Public Library, with a variety of arts and cultural clubs and activities. Also known as the “Village of Opportunity,” Consort has plenty of trails nearby to enjoy your favorite outdoor activity, while the Consort Sportex provides space for hockey, family skating, swimming lessons, and more.
Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:
Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team in a community setting to provide personal care and home support for clients as assigned by case coordinators. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job. Good communication and observational skills is required. Responsible to provide quality, and consistent care to home care clients. Good routine practices regarding infection control and personal care. Knowledgeable to report changes in client care needs to Registered Nurse. Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with using a PC, Internet, and Microsoft Office applications is an asset.
