Job title: Hospital Service Leader

Job description: The Hospital Services Leader participates in the overall management and coordination of hospital-wide services during hours of duty. The Hospital Services Leader is responsible during duty hours for resource allocation, utilization management, patient flow planning, risk management and the promotion of service excellence and quality improvement across all hospital programs. The responsibilities include an overall evaluation of the building, with strong emphasis on communication with the On Call Director as it relates to escalation of the bed management plan.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Current RN Certificate of Competence required
  • Baccalaureate level preparation
  • Theoretical preparation in nursing management preferred
  • Teaching adult education an asset
  • Certified leadership courses an asset

Experience:

  • 3 years of progressive experience in related clinical setting
  • Previous management experience an asset

Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others, especially in a stressful environment
  • Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborates and communicates with various members of the interdisciplinary health care team to ensure quality patient care both in the hospital and the community
  • Demonstrated professionalism.
  • Demonstrated to growth and development of self and others
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving patient flow throughout the facility

Other:

  • Working knowledge of computer, Microsoft Office and Outlook applications
  • Working knowledge of current staffing modules (i.e. Kronos/ESP)
  • Familiarity with union contracts affiliated with employee sectors within RVH
  • Maintenance, Plant and Facilities knowledge
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Emergency plans
  • Public relations
  • Risk identification
