Job title: Housing Construction Development Coordinator (FT)
Job description: The Housing Development Coordinator will assist 360°kids in their pursuit of creating deeply affordable and sustainable housing solutions for youth 16-26 by providing oversight to new builds, retrofits and renovations. The Housing Development Coordinator will also provide general maintenance & repairs to existing properties and coordinate skilled trades where necessary. The coordinator will establish and maintain respectful, collaborative, working relationships with landlords, contractors and skilled tradespeople. The coordinator will be responsible for project management in the acquisition, renovation and finalization of new and ongoing housing developments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop timelines and work plans for new projects.
- Develop and adhere to budgets for new projects.
- Liaise with contractors to oversee projects and Organize skilled tradespeople when necessary.
- Work with a multidisciplinary team including architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and volunteers to ensure fulfill the project deadlines.
- Anticipate, identify and helps to remove barriers to project completion.
- Manage projects in line with 360°kids’ mission, vision and values and activities comply with applicable standards and laws.
- Complies with all rules, industry regulations and health and safety standards of 360°kids.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the housing market, including trends.
- Liaise with participants, community partners, agencies, donors, coworkers, and volunteers. Develop positive relations with the communities being served by the program and with the general public.
- Understand the current needs for housing for 360°kids.
- Identify new potential properties for purchase or retrofits.
- Work with the senior manager and COO to select relevant properties and Participate in the planning and development of the Housing Program by providing input and working as part of an integrated service model.
- Establish and maintain working partnerships with a variety of community agencies, businesses and members.
- Provide general maintenance oversight to multiple properties.
- Create Maintenance plans and schedules that help maintain 360°kids assets over time.
- When possible, empower youth and staff by teaching the skills needed to maintain a home.
- Participate in staff meetings and service delivery meetings as required and Attend training workshops and relevant conferences that pertain to the role.
- Other duties as required.
Education and skills:
- Post-Secondary degree/diploma or apprenticeship in a skilled trade or the equivalent combination of education and Minimum of three years’ experience working in project management. Previous experience working in housing is an asset.
- Previous experience working a contractor or handyperson.
- Previous experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification and Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
- Car and valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively in a community and with a team of service providers.
- Must be able to problem solve and troubleshoot independently and General maintenance knowledge and abilities required.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
Regular shifts, with some evenings, and weekends required. Job duties take place in the community. Risk of moderate injury due to potentially dangerous situations. Working in environments with potentially challenging clients who may be physically and/or verbally abusive. Work involves standing for long periods of time, frequent computer uses, regular distractions, and shifting priorities. Some lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required. Regular travel within the community is required.
