Job title: Human Resources Specialist

Job description: We’re looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone’s journeys better.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Delivers new hire orientation and other training programs as needed.
  • Provide information, advice, and guidance to managers and employees on routine HR-related issues (e.g. recruitment, compensation, benefits, leave, and HR policy and procedures); refer more complex HR issues to the Senior HR Manager
  • Open, track, log (update), and close grievance case files (including HRTO complaints)
  • Prepare and distribute supporting case documentation and correspondence (e.g. requests for union leaves); log and review file contents for accuracy and completeness
  • Assists with unit-specific program design, development and implementation; and assists with implementation of any enterprise-wide programs, as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining the HR databases with accurate employee data (e.g. new hires, name/address changes, banking information)
  • Process employee benefit and pension enrollment and beneficiary changes
  • Create new employee files; file papers and documents in appropriate employee files
  • Coordinate the employee file system to provide appropriate access and controls and maintain files and records in accordance with legal requirements, and company policies and procedures
  • Maintain bulletin boards, recruiting tracker, exit interview tracker.
  • Ensures that weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Accomplishes human resources and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with managers, employees and union representatives
  • Provides meeting support – minutes, agenda and package preparation and distribution.
  • Maintains electronic and paper filing systems, including general information, grievance and general office files.
  • Communicates with external and internal stakeholders, escalating to another member of the team if an issue cannot be resolved.

Education:

  • Preferred 2 years college or equivalent

Work Experience:

  • Prior work experience with at least 2-4 years in a human resources related role
  • Experience working in airline, transportation, hospitality, manufacturing or food service environment highly desirable

Job Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal employment law

  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, and be highly organized, action oriented and collaborative

  • Must have strong computer and database application skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; must also be good listener

  • None

Travel:

  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.

Environmental Requirements:

  • Regularly, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts
  • In a normal production kitchen facility there may be physical discomfort due to temperature and noise
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
