Our client is a contracting firm based in GTA that offers exceptional service in the Greater Toronto Area. We are currently seeking an experienced ICI Construction Estimator to join our team on a full-time and permanent basis. The Estimator will report to the Project Management team and will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely full-cost estimates for projects, including materials and labour. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of related project experience.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and check public tendering websites and platforms to discover relevant opportunities.
- Examine and evaluate tender documents to fully comprehend the project’s scope, requirements, and evaluation criteria.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, blueprints, and related documents to ensure comprehensive understanding, identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
- Prepare and issue inquiries to subcontractors, follow up on responses, and clarify the scope of work as needed.
- Collaborate with subcontractors to gather accurate quotes and ensure a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
- Conduct thorough quantity take-offs for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services specific to ICI projects.
- Prepare and present forecasts, estimates for change notes, and variation orders to ensure project financials are accurately managed.
- Review project change requests and assess the potential impact on cost estimates and timelines.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to gather essential information and prepare accurate cost estimates for ICI projects.
- Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to generate detailed and competitive estimates.
- Research and stay updated on market trends, pricing, and industry developments to enhance estimating accuracy.
- Participate in bid review meetings and present estimates to senior management and clients as required.
- Assist in preparing compelling and well-structured proposals, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client needs.
- Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work.
- Evaluate and recommend allowances for indirect costs, design unknowns, escalation, and contingency.
- Perform all related tasks that will help complete the project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous 5 years of experience as an Estimator focusing on ICI projects is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with public procurement processes and requirements.
- Proficiency in utilizing estimating software and tools tailored to ICI projects.
- Strong understanding of ICI construction methods, materials, and techniques.
- Excellent analytical skills and unwavering attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated track record of meeting deadlines and delivering accurate estimates.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tender submissions simultaneously.
