The Business Applications Section of the Edmonton Police Service is looking for one (1) Business Analyst who is a self-motivated and organized individual with exceptional technical, business analysis and interpersonal skills. This position will support key projects related to the development and enhancement of the police records management platform. This position will join the Records Systems 1 Unit whose focus is to support and improve operational data storage and disclosure.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing business support and analysis services for various EPS applications and interfaces
- Effectively elicit, validate, and document business requirements using a variety of techniques and methods as defined in the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK).
- Organize and facilitate meetings/focus groups and training sessions with stakeholders
- Prepare project documentation including design support and development of integrated solutions, including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery
- Author, review and assist in the creation of deliverables such as business requirements, conceptual prototyped designs, process models (swim-lane), detailed designs, and end-user documentation.
- Participate and lead the development, documentation, execution, and implementation of project testing phases
- Develop training material and providing ‘train the trainer’ training sessions to various business areas
- Work with technical, business and project management resources to develop time and resource estimates
- Assist in the selection and implementation of software solutions, including performing gap fit analysis of a selected solution to EPS requirements
- Advising business management on the application of information technology solutions, including business process modelling for the purposes of identifying areas that could be refined or streamlined to create efficiency.
- Ensure stakeholders are engaged in the development of project objectives and deliverables, including strategies associated with user acceptance testing, communications, training, and implementation
- Working collaboratively with all members of the IT Division to ensure that all application issues are addressed in a timely manner to minimize disruption to the provision of IT services.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis in response to specific business questions or requirements.

Qualifications
- Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline and 4 years demonstrated advanced experience with enterprise class video management systems
- OR Post-secondary diploma in a related discipline and 5-years relevant experience
- OR 1-year related certificate and 7 years relevant experience
- Minimum 6 years’ experience specializing in Business Analysis including project experience in robust, enterprise scale applications or initiatives is an asset.
- Minimum of five (5) year experience in information technology development and/or information technology consulting is an asset.
- Proficiency with various Microsoft applications in the MS365 platform.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written skills with a strong focus on customer service.
- Ability to excel in a team environment.
- Experience working in a policing organisation, particularly in operational data is a significant asset.
- Professional Designation in Business Analysis (CCBA, CBAP, PMI-PBA) from the IIBA or PMI is an asset
- Certification and/or experience in Niche is a significant asset

- As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service, you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program.
Salary Range:
21M, Salary Grade: 032, $48.10 – $61.38 (Hourly), $3,247.19 – $4,143.80(Bi-Weekly), $84,752.01 – $108,153.25(Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
