Your opportunity:
The University of Toronto is looking to hire a project manager for its newly established Center for Intelligent Buildings Digital Twins. The Center will house data about projects from participating partners—starting with data about UofT’s 150 buildings. The data will span structured and unstructured data; building, operator, and user-generated data; historical, real-time, and simulated-futures data. The Center will demonstrate the use of best practices in data management, investigate policies for the collection and audit of data, and examine the applicability of open data systems, including generating security/access rights best practices. Using machine learning to advance data-driven culture in the built environment, with particular emphasis on the use of analytics to generate business intelligence tools for enhancing project commissioning, advancing sustainable practices, and exploring new horizons in human-building interactions.
The manager will develop and coordinate work plans for the development of the technology road map of the digital twin, support the design and management of the technology and information architect of software systems. The candidate should demonstrate abilities and expertise in developing and carrying out plans to reach out to stakeholders, promote the Center and its mission, establish partnerships, and oversee a communication and interaction plan to disseminate the results of research work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Develop work plans and schedules for software development
- Direct programmers and technical staff members to coordinate work and achieve milestones
- Tracking and collecting information on project progress and taking corrective actions
- Monitoring accounts for a project and/or program
- Oversee the development and implementation of a communication plan
- Develop annual reports and periodical project update reports
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years of experience in managing and/ or leading IT/ Software development projects; or equivalent experience
- Strong skills and abilities in using platforms for coordinating software development projects such as GitHub
- Demonstrating strong abilities in developing business requirements and software use cases
- Understanding of the technical aspects of automation systems and IoT (Internet of Things) is desirable
- Knowledge and experience in the use of advanced analytics or machine learning applications is also desirable
