The role:

To lead, manage and execute Meridian’s IT Governance program and IT Governance activities across the IT organization. This includes leading and managing all organizational IT related audits and assessments, all IT governance reporting for the organization, and assists in the the management and continuously improvement of the Disaster Recovery Program. The role partners primarily with senior management, technology and process specialists, as well as internal and external auditors.

Your role as a IT Governance Specialist, you will:

IT Governance

  • Lead, manage and facilitate the establishment, maintenance, and execution of Meridian’s IT Governance Framework (COBIT).
  • Develop, maintain, and improve IT Governance workflows, tasks, and activities by leveraging automation and organizational solutions including Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) tools and processes, to enable the business and IT to meet organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ensure IT related governance standards, procedures, checklists, guidelines, and processes are developed and aligned to industry best practices.
  • Manage all IT governance and assessment activities.

Audits and Assessments

  • Lead, manage and facilitate all internal and external IT Audit and Assessment activities. This includes developing, communicating, and maintaining an annual audit plan and schedule, working with executives, senior management, IT subject matter experts and third-party auditors and assessors.
  • Work with Internal Audit Services and External Auditors on planning and executing audit engagements.
  • Monitor and track IT Audit management commitments and remediation activities to ensure commitment dates are met.

Disaster Recovery (DR) Program Management:

  • Working with the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) team to ensure alignment of the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Programs.
  • Working with Business Owners to ensure business requirements are met and captured in Disaster Recovery Program.
  • Participating and assisting in the facilitation of mandated disaster recovery exercises, including scenario planning, exercise oversight and reporting.

Communications

  • Manage expectations of business partners, and setting and communicating realistic and achievable objectives for the area of Disaster Recovery and IT Audits and assessments.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships and interact with IT staff, senior management and internal business partners on Disaster Recovery and IT Governance related issues as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders external to the organization leveraging external perspectives on Disaster Recovery and IT Governance related issues as necessary.

How you will succeed:

  • A minimum of 2 years proven experience and knowledge of business and project management principles, methods, and techniques.
  • 4 years related industry/professional experience in the IT Governance field, with preference for 2+ years previous experience in an IT environment.
  • Subject-matter expertise and experience in Disaster Recovery and IT Governance to be a highly effective internal consultant and provide effective support at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong verbal communication and training skills with ability to facilitate a mix of technical teams, Senior and Executive management during IT Governance related exercises and education sessions.
  • Degree or diploma preferably in Information Technology or Business (or acceptable equivalent), with working knowledge of IT and COBIT principles and practices.
  • COBIT Foundation Certification.
  • Certified Information systems Auditor (CISA) designation an asset.
  • Certified in Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) designation an asset
  • Strong analytical and methodological skills with attention to detail.
