Position Title: Job Developer
Status: Regular Part Time
Hours: 24hrs/week (hours may include evenings and weekends)
Faculty/Department: Community Outreach and Workforce Development
Campus/Location: North Campus
Salary: (Min) $29.29/hr
What you will do:
Under the guidance of the Project Coordinator, the Job Developer (JD) is accountable for reaching out to employers, managing relationships with them, and providing job development services to internationally trained professionals enrolled in the IT Infrastructure Bridging Program. The JD will be primarily responsible for liaising with employers to market the program and its participants, securing and sharing job leads, supporting participants with the job application process, organizing employer networking and hiring events, inviting employers as guest speakers, and networking with program alumni for job opportunities. The incumbent will proactively build and nurture relationships with employers and relevant associations, collaborate with partners and colleagues both internally and externally, and maintain knowledge of industry trends and labour force needs. Additional duties include providing ongoing job coaching to participants and graduates, interview preparation, follow up with employers and participation in organizing other support activities with the program team. When necessary, the JD will also support students to customize their resumes and cover-letters for specific job applications and assist in conducting mock interviews. The JD will support sector-focused retention services and ongoing case management. He/she will also be responsible for keeping a record of student service and employment outcomes data and entering them into the relevant information systems. The JD will assist the Project Coordinator in student recruitment, on an as needed basis.
What you bring to the role
Education:
- Diploma in Career and Work Counselling, Human Resources or related field or a degree in Social Work
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of job development experience and a proven track record of success working with newcomers to Canada
Skills:
Qualifications include excellent interpersonal and communication skills, teambuilding, adaptability, organizational, occupation specific/labor market research and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated awareness of cultural diversity, settlement and integration issues pertaining to newcomers to Canada is essential. Candidates should have a proven commitment to customer and community service. Strong ties to IT recruiters and the IT industry are preferred. Knowledge about employment in the IT industry related to computer operating systems, computer networking, cloud infrastructure and operations, and cybersecurity are desirable assets.
