Golder’s Earth & Environmental Applied Solutions team (EEAS) is seeking a Construction Project Engineer – Junior to join our Winnipeg, MB based team.
The role involves working as part of a team of construction engineering professionals working across Canada with projects nationally as well as overseas. We develop detailed designs and specifications and provide contract administration, contract management and general contracting services for a very diverse clientele. Design-build experience in building construction (Part 3 on the National Building Code) would be an asset. The wide range of projects may include new construction, building and infrastructure demolition, large earthmoving projects including large mining projects, landfill closure and mine closure, remediation, and complex environmental capping construction.
Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Detailed engineering design and specification package development;
- Project development, planning and phasing – working with stakeholders to ensure constructible project delivery;
- Preparation of Work Instruction Plan’s (WIP’s) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) for project work;
- Field work – detailed walkdowns on projects, field documentation, photography and measurement – comparing as-builts to existing site conditions.
- Field support during project execution, including documentation of work performed;
- Work with estimating functions and procurement functions on development of scopes of work and providing support to estimating and procurement activities as necessary;
- Preparing detailed engineering estimates for projects;
- Assisting team in the preparation of proposals and presentations to promote services;
- Management of project health and safety, with support from the Divisional H&S Leader;
- Project scheduling (MS Project);
- Working with field staff to resolve technical and constructability issues;
Qualifications
You will have a background in:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering and Management or equivalent;
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Manitoba and ability to be licensed in other Provinces with a minimum of 2 years of licensed professional experience in Project Engineering of Construction Projects;
- Verifiable experience in the development of engineering designs and specification packages as part of a cohesive engineering team;
- Demonstrable experience in planning projects from site visits along with scopes of work planned out by other senior consultants in a wide variety of disciplines;
- Work cohesively with estimators and purchasing professionals on sourcing and costing of work and project development;
- Demonstrated field experience in the site operations and management of a variety of construction and demolition projects;
- Basic experiences in estimating, project scheduling and project phasing, cost control;
- Possess proficient interpersonal communication skills to deal effectively with clients, suppliers and project stakeholders as required;
- Self-starter and motivated;
- Proficient reading and writing skills – effective technical communication. Experience in French or other languages at a professional level a strong asset;
- Available for 50 – 60% business travels and extended working hours as required
