Job description: We’ re looking for a hybrid HR Labour Relations Advisor in the construction industry.

The HR Labour Relations Advisor will be responsible for overseeing the employee and labour relations activities throughout the organization.
HR Labour Relations Advisor responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, provides labour relations support to assigned client groups
- Provide day-to-day advice, direction, and counsel to leadership with respect to interpretation of collective agreements and employee relation matters of assigned client groups
- Manages union and management relationships to assist in resolving labour relations issues, including promoting progressive labour relations framework
- Assists with collective bargaining, lead grievance processes and participate in arbitration processes
- Provides recommendations and input to Human Resources initiatives and programs related to compensation, recruiting, union/management and employee/management relations and communication.
- Investigates and resolves complex and sensitive employee relations issues for assigned client groups
- Participates in the estimating, contracts and bid processes by providing advice and recommendations pertaining to provisions within the collective agreements.
- Supports field operations with labour force demobilization at the completion of projects (i.e. oversee transfers, temporary layoffs and terminations).
- Travels to work sites to promote an HR labour relations presence by building positive relationships with employees
The successful candidate has:
- 4+ years of experience of labour relations experience in an industrial or construction setting is a must
- A Bachelor’ s degree in Human Resources or Industrial Relations or equivalent
- Comfortable interacting and building relationships with executives and field staff
- Able to travel within Alberta for 2-3 days at a time
- Experience with JD Edwards is an asset, intermediate excel skills are a must
- Experience with unions, grievances and arbitration is required
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and communication skills
- The ability to provide a successful pass to pre-employment drug/alcohol testing
Compensation and benefits:
- The discussed salary range is $75, 000 – $95, 000 depending on experience
- Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered
